Church of Saint Nicolò
San Nicolo The Church of St. Nicolò is located in the northern part of Lido facing the lagoon, near the first of the three inlets to be found in Venice that separates the coast from that of Cavallino and Lido. Lido was formed by river sediment and was later man made to protect Venice’s lagoon from the sea. Walking along the Lungolaguna promenade, lined with interesting Art Nouveau buildings, you get to St. Nicholas, where once stood the largest fortification of the island and where even today one can admire the church rebuilt in the XVII century and its beautiful cloister.
In this place the Serenissima used to celebrate the “Marriage of the Sea” on Ascension Day. The same ceremony still takes place every year with paraded boats and all the pomp and circumstance.

Il Lido è la località balneare meno affollata dell'Alto Adriatico. Se in passato era frequentata dalla nobiltà europea, oggi è l'ideale meta turistica per chi vuole abbinare il turismo culturale a una rilassante vacanza al mare.
