“Giovanni Nicelli” Airport

The presence of the Nicelli Airport was fundamental for the economic development of the island. For a time it was second only to Rome Airport. From here, in 1926, the first flight Lido di Venezia-Vienna took off. Shortly, the Transadriatica Company, that had achieved this first international goal, realized other new routes to several European capitals. In the 30’s the Nicelli Airport was at the top of its activity with a record number of airplanes, passengers and goods in transit, called by the most important airlines of the time. Only in the 60’s it ceased to be the Airport of Venice due to the insufficient length of its runways for the new aircrafts. It was necessary to move the installation to the mainland, in Tessera area. At present, after the recent restoration, it is the official seat of the “Aero Club Giannino Ancillotto”, International Flight School equipped with up-to-date technologies, also arranging flights over Venice

Il Lido è la località balneare meno affollata dell'Alto Adriatico. Se in passato era frequentata dalla nobiltà europea, oggi è l'ideale meta turistica per chi vuole abbinare il turismo culturale a una rilassante vacanza al mare.
