Liberty-style villas
Soon after the opening of the Hotel Des Bains on July 5th, 1900, the Hotel Excelsior followed in 1908, built directly on the Lido beach. Starting from this period a total transformation involved this narrow strip of land between the sea and the lagoon and it shortly became the most fashionable resort in Europe. “Liberty” and “Art Déco” were the art styles coming from the other side of the Alps that mingled with Venice aesthetic traditions giving birth to the Lido architecture. During twenty years the central part of the island underwent a relevant urbanization, mainly in the more picturesque and scenographic areas like the seafront, the promenade on the lagoon and the small roads along its quiet channels, innumerable villas were built with the most fantastic and eclectic creative freedom.

Il Lido è la località balneare meno affollata dell'Alto Adriatico. Se in passato era frequentata dalla nobiltà europea, oggi è l'ideale meta turistica per chi vuole abbinare il turismo culturale a una rilassante vacanza al mare.
