| | | The first notable edifice you meet on the promenade along the lagoon is a large, circular, domed building called the Tempio Votivo. It was projected in 1925 by Architect Giuseppe Torre who also surveyed its realization. The original project was that of a church consecrated to Santa Maria Immacolata (the Blessed Virgin), but during construction, in 1930, it was decided to dedicate its crypt to a Memorial homing the remains of the soldiers fallen during World War I. The Memorial can be visited every day fm 9,00 a.m. to 3,00 p.m., closed on Mondays. | | |
